Introducing the Eastern Panhandle Swim Club!

Erica Wheatley

Hello Sea Snakes swimmers, families and friends-

We are proud of our swimmers over the last year as we have brought back competitive swimming after a long break. We are grateful to all the support from their families and the community. Our athletes have reached goals, braved new events, mastered difficult stroke techniques, and made friends. They are hardworking, fun, competitive, kind, and respectful.

As our swimmers make tremendous strides in their abilities and as the program continues to grow, we are always looking for ways to help swimmers reach their goals while at the same time keeping the sport as sustainable as possible for families.

In May 2024, the Eastern Panhandle Swim Club, LLC (EPSC) was formed to act as the umbrella company to “boost” and manage the competitive swim programs at Shepherd, in partnership with the Shepherd University Wellness Center (SUWC).  As co-owners of EPSC, Head Coaches Erica Wheatley and Tim Clayton look forward to fostering Accountability, Courage, and Empathy in our swimmers as they strive to reach their highest potential both in and out of the pool.

Over the next few months, EPSC will transition to assume the role of the previous Sea Snakes Swim Team Booster Club, as well as act in a larger team-management capacity.

You will notice management and fundraising slowly switching over to EPSC - including our Long Course USA Swimming add-on Program as well as concessions, spirit wear, and cap sales. A new EPSC venmo account is available to use for these purchases.

By the Fall 2024 season, EPSC will be fully operational, running the TeamUnify site, swim meets, and all other aspects of competitive swim. EPSC will operate in tandom with SUWC, with swimmers paying part of their fees to SUWC for practices and part to EPSC for competitive swim participation. Visit the Fall/Winter Practice Groups tab on our team website for more information on fall programing.

Same coaches, same practice venue, same friends, same great team culture. Better ability to organize the competitive nature of the team, manage meet fees, receive grants, distribute fundraising as needed, offer discounts and scholarships, and continue to support our swimmers in any way we can.

Don't worry, the Sea Snakes will remain strong as our Summer Swim MASSL team! We are, however, looking for input on a new USA Swimming team name. Suggestions can be dropped in the collection box at practice or emailed to us.

We look forward to working with you and your athletes for years to come!

Questions? Shoot us an email or come find us after practice!

Happy Swimming!
