First Week of Practice and First Meet

Erica Wheatley

Hello Sea Snakes and Families - looking good out there so far!

Swim Meet Sign Up - The sign up/opt-in deadline for the home meet on June 8 is TOMORROW, Friday May 31.

  •  Please go mark Attending/Not-Attending through TeamUnify on the Meets and Events page, or download and use the OnDeck app.
  • If your athete is swimming, a parent, friend, family member etc needs to be signed up for a job. If you can not fulfill one of those jobs listed, please email me and we will figure something out.
  • We need all the Officials we can get! If you were not able to come to the officials trainings but are willing to help in this capacity, please let me know and we can set up a new training. Meets are run soley by family volunteers so we need enough of every job to make it work.
  • If you are a Copper swimmer hoping to swim in meets, please go ahead and opt-in for the meets you can attend. Next week we will run some evaluations to see who is ready and we will confirm with the families or send out a list
  • You can go through and opt-in or -out of the meets your family can attend the rest of the season. Jobs are first come first serve!

Lost and Found - Check with the front desk if your swimmer is missing any items - they are collecting quite a few towels and water bottles! The coaches sometimes gather items that we know belong to swimmers, so also check with them to look in our team closet.

All-Star Qualifying Times - these are buried in the documents tab on our website. I haven't posted the new times from this year but they are pretty similar - start setting some goals!

Shirts and Caps - They are being printed! When we get them in we will have some volunteers at practice help us organize them and we will start passing them out ASAP! If you would like an extra pink or teal cap, you can purchse one from the Boosters for $15.

Competition Suit - These are optional. You can purchase from SwimOutlet or Amazon. We have a try-on kit if you would like to find your right size (super snug is best!). Do not wear your new competition suit to practice - it wears them out. See our Equipment Page for more information and links.

Equipment Notes:

  • Copper swimmers do not need to worry about fins or yoga mats at the beginning. If you have them, we will use them later in the season. Your coaches will reach out to you when it's a good time to add them to your equipment bag!
  • Gold, Silver, Bronze swimmers should have yoga mats and fins. Wear shoes for pre-practice stretching because we like to enjoy the fresh air out front or back!

Usually when I send out emails I also post them on the NEWS page of our TeamUnify website - shepherdseasnakes.com. If this is the first email you have received from the team, go ahead and review the last few News posts there!

As always, please reach out if you have any questions or suggestions!
