Getting Ready for Summer Swim!

Erica Wheatley

Hello Sea Snakes Families!

We are looking forward to next Tuesday – the first day of summer swim for everyone! Please review the following information to make sure you and your swimmers are ready. Email me if you have any questions([email protected]).

Note:

  • - Does anyone have some 1 inch binders we could use for the team? Even old ones from kids’ school classes will do if they are still holding up!

Getting Set-Up:

  • - If you are not yet registered on TeamUnify, please do so ASAP (shepherdseasnakes.com)! When the season starts, all communication will go through that platformLink HERE

  • - Review the Summer Parent Packet. Pick up at practice the Handbook Highlight form to hang on your fridge with dates and helpful QR codes.

  • - Pick up at practice the Swimmer Information and Goals Worksheet  - turn it in to your coach.

  • - Pay your Booster Fee at Practice to a Booster Officer – Only $10! Cash or Check to Sea Snakes Booster Club (make sure you write your swimmers’ name on it)

PRACTICES:

  • - Come 15 min before your scheduled practice times for Stretch and Chat with your coaches.

  • We usually stretch outside the pool back doors – you can keep your shorts and Tennis shoes or crocs on.

  • - If there is Thunder/Lightening nearby, the pool will close – HOWEVER we will still have dryland practice on the upper deck (families will be invited to wait in the Lobby). Always be prepared with your yoga mat, shorts and Tshirt, and Tennis shoes or crocs with a backstrap

  • - Gear requirements include a crossback suit for girls or jammers/briefs for the boys. A cap, (suggested for everyone, required for anyone with hair that reaches the eyebrows/neck), good goggles, water bottle, a yoga mat (check out $5 Below), and fins.

  • - Eat a big dinner and a light breakfast (please do not skip breakfast)! Even a granola bar, protein drink etc is better than nothing! You can eat a larger breakfast after practice. Hydrate during the day.

MEETS:

  • - All meets are posted and open for “opt-in” under the Meets and Events Tab. Please mark whether you can attend or not.

  • - You can go through and mark all of them now, or wait until closer to the deadlines

  • - It’s easier for the coaches if you say you are going then just opt-out/email if you end up not being able to make it (ideally updating this by the deadline so we can put together relay teams)

  • - Copper Swimmers may mark what they can attend, but the coaches will have final say if they are ready or not.

  • - All events will be chosen by the coaches – your swimmers should stay in communication with their coaches about their goals

  • If you will be late or can not swim in relays at the end or beginning, please make in the notes section in opt-in
