Hello Sea Snakes Families! 

 

Thank you to those able to make the parent meeting earlier this week, and I apologize we couldn’t get an online version up and running. We will try again next month! In this Weekly News Update you will find reminders about upcoming meet opt-in deadlines and upcoming season information. As always, please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We are here to help you and your swimmers succeed in their goals! 

 

Highlights   

 

  • Stay in the Loop: If you haven't already, go back and read the last few news updates 

  • Fundraising: We will start a Mountaineer Popcorn Fundraiser on January 22. 

  • Practice Attendance: Remember we are looking for at least 50% practice attendance from all swimmers – please be on time and check in if you are not able to make practice with Coach Erica [email protected] 

  • Opt-in deadlines for the next few meets are coming up. Jan 16th, next Tuesday, is the deadline for the 10 and Under Fairland Aquatic Penguin meet. All opt-ins are open so go in and mark going or not-going! 

  • Enjoy all our announcements and information posted on the pool wall, “The Snake Pit.” :)

Volunteering and Fundraising   
 

Booster Club 

  • Next Booster Club meeting is Monday February 12, 7-8 pm at the Wellness Center Conference Room (down the hallway behind the Cafe). 

  • Booster Club Meeting will include a Coaches Chat/Q&A at the end. If you need help or have questions about anything, come check in with Coach Erica! 

  • A new order of caps is coming – we will let you know when they are here and you can purchase from a Booster Officer 

  • T-Shirt/Sweatshirt order forms will also be distributed soon. 

  • Sign up here to start working with one of the committees.  

  • Reach out to Booster President, Brian McBean ([email protected]), if you have any questions or concerns. Committees include:

Fundraising 

  • Beginning January 22 - Our Winter Session Fundraiser is Mountaineer Popcorn sales! I love their popcorn . . . More information coming soon. 

  • Fundraising is a required part of being on the Sea Snakes Team. Fundraising helps reduce costs for all swimmers to attend meets and other activities, and overall costs for all families.   Funds are also used to purchase special training equipment for the team and organize fun activities like an end-of year banquet and hot cocoa days.  
     

 

Practice News    

  • No Practice Monday January 15 OR Friday January 19.  

  • Keep up the good work! Our coaching staff is pretty set and getting to know their swimmers names and skills. Updated Coach/Staff pages on our team website is in the works so you can get to know them all better. We have Coach Erica (Head Coach), Coach Tim (Assistant Head Coach, Lead Gold/Silver Advanced), Coach Tim and Coach Richie (Assistant Gold Silver Advanced Coaches), Coach Beccah (Gold/Silver LITE on T/Th and Bronze M/W/F), Coach Barb (Gold/Silver LITE on M/W/F) and Coach Brandi (Bronze T/Th). You will also see Coach Bradi in and out wherever we need her this season!

Session Registration and Season Information   

 

  •  January 3 – March 17, 2024 – Last session of our Fall/Winter Competitive Season 

  • Priority Registration will be November 27-December 3rd (sign up for the same practice days you currently have) 

  • Open registration will be December 4th- 18th if new people want to join or if you want to switch or add practice days 

  • April 8- May 21, 2024 – Conditioning Practice session 

  • Open to both USA and non-USA Swimmers 

  • Choose M/W practice days or T/Th - or choose both to practice M-Th 

  • Focus will be on maintaining endurance and improving stroke technique 

  • June 3 – July 27, 2024 – Summer Competitive Season with Mid-Atlantic Summer League (MASSL) 

  • Open to USA and non-USA Swimmers 

  • There will be an add-on package for those wishing to attend USA Swimming meets in addition to MASSL league meets 

  • August 2024- March  2025 - Fall/Winter USA Swimming Competitive Season 

  • Information on next year’s season will be published in February 2024 

  • Be prepared for higher attendance requirements, long-term commitments and less breaks over holidays for our advanced levels and older swimmers – Sea Snake athletes are ready to take it to the next level!! 

  •  We will continue to make flexible options for younger swimmers and swimmers with multiple sports/activities (we believe in well-rounded people!).  

  • Meets and Events will be published earlier so families can get them on their schedules
